10/1 – Shawnee, Oklahoma – In the main event of the Rumble at Remington, Solo Gortman (4-8-1, 2 KO) will challenge Jerry Wallace (5-3, 2 KO) for the vacant Oklahoma welterweight title. For Gortman, this is a rematch he has been waiting for since they first fought in 2012.
“I’m not coming all the way from Texas to get my ass whooped. It’s going to be a war.”
Gortman, who trains out of Dark Horse Boxing Academy in Arlington Texas, has been in the ring with several highly ranked prospects, and will definitely bring the fight to Wallace this Saturday.
Brooklynfights caught up with Gortman as he arrived in Oklahoma City. Already at the contracted weight, Gortman sounded calm and collected as he is on the verge of capturing his first minor title. We discussed his training camp, any advantages he might have, the bad blood between him and Wallace, and a prediction for the upcoming title fight.
